She cut a .078 light and ran 7.169 at 87.09 MPH. Lauren Thomas was in the right lane. McGee Harley dragster drew lots of interest at the O’Reilly NHRA Summer Nationals at Heartland Park in Topeka, KS. On display at the Harley Davidson booth on Nitro Alley, the rolling chassis - a McPhantom J/Comp race car -- was built by Phil McGee of McGee Racing Cams, El Dorado Springs, MO. The car is owned by Guy Caster of Kansas City, KS (who is also the crew chief) and is driven by longtime junior racer, Luke McGee. The long list of sponsors includes “DynoMike” Wilson of Dynamic Chassis, Lucas Oil, Yeager Harley Davidson, Bandit Machine Works and Taylor Ignition. The engine is a 95 cu. in. Harley Davidson Twin Cam with a thrasher kit from “DynoMike” Wilson.

This new generation McPhantom is not just another pretty face. Making its race debut June 23rd - 24th at the annual Soul Brothers Race at KCIR, it was the #1 qualifier in its class with a perfect 6.90 ET in a 6.90 index and a .006 RT on a five-tenths pro tree. It is bound to be the object of much attention at the upcoming Western Conference Finals in July. Luke’s brother, Briar McGee, took home the J/Comp trophy from the WCF last year with his Suzuki GSXR1000 powered McPhantom. Dominated by Suzuki power plants during its short history, the J/Comp class welcomes Harley Davidson to its rapidly expanding base and looks forward to the added excitement and good natured rivalry it will bring.
